The Model 175 and FM-Approved Model 32E Phoenix are advanced, state-of-the-art, two-wire, capacitance-based level transmitters suitable for liquid level-measurement applications in outside industrial-type environments.

The Model 175 is compatible with standard capacitance probes, while the Model 32E must be used with our FM-Approved line of Industrial Probes.

The field-replaceable electronic module is housed in a rugged NEMA 4X housing, well suited for direct mounting on the tank or remote mounting up to 10 ft. away from the probe.

Both instruments include a 4-20 mA output, corresponding to 0-100% liquid level, available for interface to your computer or contol system. A unique magnetic interface (MagtouchTM) provides a way to operate the keypad through the window in the enclosure - no need to remove the cover for adjustment or calibration.

Watchdog timer circuitry and low line voltage (brownout) detector prevent microprocessor lock-up and provide fail-safe operation.

Easy Installation - Simple Serviceability

The electronics "puck" is field replaceable and requires no rewiring. All of the field wiring is installed into a stationary base ring inside the enclosure. This configuration also provides plenty of room for initial field wiring without the transmitter electronics being in the way during installation.

Mounting Options

The level transmitter housing can be mounted directly to the top of the probe (integral mount) or remotely up to 10 ft. away (remote mount). A simple high quality remote mount kit includes a stainless steel bracket with threaded nipple welded in place, stainless steel U-bolts and a remote interconnect enclosure that attaches to the top of the level probe. The signal coax between the electronics and probe is routed through standard industrial conduit provided by the customer.

Easy Calibration

These instruments incorporate microprocessor-controlled calibration capability over a wide 15 to 100,000 pF capacitance range, with a unique Auto-Ranging feature to provide maximum accuracy. Simply press the MIN and MAX buttons to set the zero and span for any installed sensor. Calibration values are stored in non-volatile memory.

ProxCalTM Advanced Calibration Feature

Although installed-calibrations are always preferred, in many instances it may not be practical to perform a factory or field calibration in the target liquid. The advanced ProxCalTM feature allows the transmitter to be calibrated in a convenient liquid, typically Liquid Nitrogen. For liquids such as Hydrogen or Oxygen, AMI calibrates in liquid nitrogen using the ProxCalTM menu to enter the dielectric value of the desired fluid. This feature is also useful when the media will be at non-atmospheric pressures. If the dielectric value of your target fluid is not known, you can use a tank with known levels and, in conjunction with these, adjust the ProxCalTM until calibration is achieved.

The Model 175 and Model 32E come standard with CE approval. Our Model 32E also includes Non-Incendive Factory Mutual (FM) Approval as well as FM-Approval for Explosion-Proof and/or Intrinsically-Safe applications.
